Our Story

The Medicinal Cannabis Council Australia (MCCA) is the unified national voice for Australia’s medicinal cannabis sector, formed through the merger of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) and Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA).

MCCA brings together the full breadth of the sector – patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, licensed cultivators and manufacturers, clinics as well as professional and allied service providers – to advance a safe, credible and sustainable medicinal cannabis ecosystem in Australia.

Building on the foundations of its predecessor organisations, MCCA advocates for improved patient access and outcomes, while supporting a high-quality, science-based industry underpinned by strong standards, regulatory integrity and professional accountability. The Council represents the collective interests of its members and serves as a trusted, authoritative voice to government, regulators and the broader community, both domestically and internationally.
